Immersive reality and virtual reality are driving progress in many fields. They can be implemented in learning, onboarding and cultural development, covering all sorts of situations, including in the workplace, while also providing support for critical decisions. Their expansion also encompasses healthcare, a field in which the real and virtual worlds are already converging. In operating theatres and in psychiatric wards, interfaces with the virtual-reality world have already proved their usefulness. In the future, most developments will concern the learning of professional skills and increasingly recognised therapeutical applications. The workshop will showcase these prospects from an international standpoint, looking at trials in Germany and France in the innovative engineering of healthcare processes, along with discussion by researchers on the key issues to be resolved to enable this type of innovation to contribute to better health for the greatest number of people.
The workshop is one of the official events taking place during the German fortnight in Occitania, organised by the La Dépêche Foundation and the Germany-Occitania association.
