As the health system was subjected to unexpected and unprecedented stress with the COVID health crisis, digital health tools were an important vector of the collective response and expectations were high. eHealth technologies were thus deployed widely to take care of the majority of urgent health needs via on-line services and support patients with chronic pathologies who were not permitted to enter hospitals because of the risk of spreading infections.
But this only lasted for a while. The results were not conclusive, and these new practices were not widely adopted. In this conference, we will examine the reasons why eHealth missed this exceptional opportunity to become one of the pillars of the health system. Most importantly, we will discuss how to address these systemic issues to make the digital health sector the driving force of the necessary revolution in our health systems.
